The Moon and it’s magick is something that I have found most people, practitioner and non-practitioner, are drawn to. From something like making moon water, to feeling a level of empowerment, to the Moon’s connection with the subconscious, intuition and inherent power. The Moon itself is a symbol of magick. And with that said, many find a lunar eclipse to be one of the most fascinating and magickal aspects.

Before I get into what rituals and spells would be perfect to do during an eclipse, I would like to note that there are three different types: (1) penumbral, (2) partial, and (3) total. A penumbral eclipse occurs when the Moon passes through just the outer edges of the Earth’s shadow. A partial occurs when part of the Moon traveling through the Earth’s umbra. A total eclipse is when the Moon goes fully dark for a relatively short period of time. This is due to the Earth’s shadow completely blocking the Moon.

Many practitioners find a lunar eclipse to be a point in time where magick is enhanced. And so, any spellwork done during this time is given a “magickal boost,” so to speak.

With that said, the rituals and spells best suited for an eclipse would be ones that focus on yourself. In other words, rituals and spells that promote personal growth and spiritual development.

• Intuitive awareness
• Psychic ability
• Divination
• Wisdom seeking
• Developing your skills
• Healing
